Overview
Fortune Island Camping is a rugged beach-camping destination on a 27-hectare island about 14 kilometers off Nasugbu, Batangas. Campers come for the Greek-inspired cliffside ruins, turquoise water, snorkeling, cliff jumping, sunset views, and a raw island setup with very limited facilities.
It is one of the most striking camping spots in Nasugbu, and the only way to stay overnight is to camp. The former luxury resort closed in 2006 because the island has no freshwater source, so stays are intentionally basic. Bring your own food, drinking water, shade, lights, trash bags, and power banks.
How do you get to Fortune Island Camping?
Reach Fortune Island through Fortune Island Resort on Apacible Boulevard, Barangay Wawa, Nasugbu, where you register and pay fees before boarding a boat. The crossing takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on sea and weather conditions.
From Manila, buses to Nasugbu take about 3 to 4 hours, then a tricycle from town to the resort takes 10 to 20 minutes. Drivers can pin Fortune Island Resort and park at the mainland resort. Boats run to the island from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and return from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, because afternoon waves can strengthen.
How much does camping at Fortune Island Camping cost?
Camping costs ₱500 overnight entrance plus a ₱30 environmental fee, ₱530 per person total, plus ₱200 per tent if you pitch your own. Boat rental is separate and varies by group size, with recent overnight rates starting at ₱4,500 for 1 to 4 people.
Overnight boat rates run about ₱4,500 for 1 to 4 pax, ₱5,000 for 5 to 8 pax, and ₱5,500 for 9 to 12 pax. Confirm current fees with the resort before booking, especially during peak season.
What amenities does Fortune Island Camping have?
Fortune Island has only basic saltwater toilets and showers, with no electricity, no freshwater source, no restaurants, and no stores. Bring drinking water, food, cooking gear, lighting, power banks, and enough supplies for the full overnight stay.
The island is camping-friendly but offers only minimum facilities, so guests must bring what they need. Pets are allowed, grilling is allowed, and firepit or bonfire facilities exist, but confirm fire rules with the operator before lighting anything.
What do campers say about Fortune Island Camping?
Campers describe Fortune Island as scenic and adventurous rather than comfortable: Greek-style ruins, cliff views, clear water, strong waves, and a simple campsite with limited shade. The consistent advice is to prepare for a fully self-sufficient overnight.
It draws fewer crowds than other beach-camping spots near Manila, but there is no electricity, no fresh water, and only basic bathrooms. There are no commercial establishments on the island. Older reviews mention trash and rough boat conditions, so leave no trace and choose operators carefully.
When is the best time to camp at Fortune Island Camping?
The best time is when seas are calm and you can board early, because boats stop returning by late afternoon and waves strengthen through the day. Weekdays and non-peak dates give better odds of finding shade and tent space.
Go early to claim a good tent area before crowds arrive, especially on weekends and peak season. Boats back to the resort run only until 4:00 PM, and waters can turn turbulent near the start of monsoon season, so check the marine forecast and operator schedule first.
